If you’re around Overland Park, Kansas, with your kids, check out the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead.
Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, there’s plenty to do here to keep the little ones entertained. It brings the farm to the city, giving you opportunities to do many different activities you would enjoy out in the sticks.
The farm is only $2 to get in or free after 2 pm Monday-Thursday. The entire farm is paved so its easy to take your stroller and get anywhere you need to go.
There are so many varieties of animals to see. Our kids’ favorite was feeding the baby goats. My one-year-old thought it was so fun to get down in the goats’ faces and scream at them!
The farmstead also features some “old time” stores to check out including a blacksmith, ice cream parlor, general store and more as well as a cute little schoolhouse.
The kids also love the pony rides, fishing in the pond and kiddie tractors to race around a track. And there’s also concessions available and picnic areas.
If you just need to relax after all the fun, there are plenty of benches and swings along the trails to take a break at and there are also different playgrounds for the kids to enjoy.
I really don’t enjoy these kinds of places, but it’s perfect for the kids and I love when they go somewhere and have a good time. It’s the perfect place to hit with friends or family.
You can get a yearly pass, have a party or get a group discount. And they also have special events throughout the summer and fall. It’s a fun little place in the middle of the city; a definite must see if you’re ever in the area.
