I recently read online about the Weston Orchard & Vineyard starting up a new pumpkin patch. The patch portion is brand new this fall and they decided to celebrate their opening by giving free admission their first year open.
All I have to say about that is…WOW! And thank you!
Pumpkin patches are such a money pit in my opinion. You go, spend tons of money for a few hours of fun and go home, with mud, corn and other things stuck to your shoes. Or other fun places (like inside diapers).
I figure if I could survive my childhood without a pumpkin patch, so can my kids.
But, now that we’ve had the experience you can bet my kids will be begging to go again next year. I appreciate their willingness to offer free entertainment. And my kids were highly entertained.
Here’s what they offer: corn maze, zip line and low ropes course, giant spider web, jumping pillow, corn pit, hay bale mountain, rat racers, hayride (minus the hay) and photo ops.
Also while you are there you can pick your own pumpkins and gourds, pick apples, and buy any of the bottled merchandise that they sell including apple cider.
The property is beautiful. Still some construction going on as they are not completely done developing the pumpkin patch portion. But that did not slow anyone down in our group! My kids ran from activity to activity, face-planting it more than once. You gotta love kids and their enthusiasm.
Their favorites were the rat race, the hayride and the jumping pillow. But in reality, they loved them all.
If you’ve never experienced something like this before and you’re in the Kansas City area, you should definitely go check it out this year.
And if you have a favorite pumpkin patch you already visit, you should still go check this one out, see how it compares to your favorite.
I’m sure your kids will leave dirty and happy!
